Te Kaunihera Wāhine o Aotearoa National Council of Women supports the Government's decision to decline participation in a proposed international "Board of Peace".
NCWNZ believes the proposal would weaken the United Nations and undermine the multilateral, rules‑based system that supports global peace, human rights, and accountability. Since its founding, NCWNZ has championed international cooperation grounded in human rights, gender equality, and the rule of law.
New Zealand has a proud history of supporting the United Nations, which remains the best forum for diplomacy, conflict resolution, and protecting women’s and human rights. A strong UN is essential in both times of peace and conflict.
NCWNZ welcomes the Government’s commitment to protecting and strengthening multilateral institutions and is proud to support this decision.
