Call to action on Mother’s Day

There’s another way of looking at Mother’s Day, writes the President of the National Council of Women New Zealand Barbara Arnold.

 

It’s the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day this Sunday, and we urge you to use the occasion to think more deeply about what you can do to help the women in your lives.

The United States of America’s Congress established Mother’s Day in 1914, but for decades prior to this there had been discussion of and moves towards a celebratory day as part of the feminist movement.

It’s great that this celebration has spread around the globe and the National Council of Women hopes the lovely traditions families establish around it continue for centuries to come.
