Nicky has a Masters degree in Political Science and has experience in diverse roles in the public and private sectors, including research, policy analysis, speechwriting and communications. She is a former Executive Director of the national organisations of the plastics industry and the paperboard packaging industries, and a former Executive Officer of the Wellington branch of Export New Zealand.

Nicky will be managing the national office of NCW and working with the Board, branches, members and affiliated nationally organised societies to build on the Council's work over many years to improve opportunities and outcomes for New Zealand women and their families.

Ruth is 28 years old and from Scotland. After taking some time out to travel in the United States and South America, she has now settled in New Zealand.

Previously she has worked in a both a voluntary and paid capacity for two prominent Scottish charities and spent two years working as a journalist.  She holds a MLitt Strategic Studies (with distinction) and MA (Joint Honours) Social Policy and Politics and has previous experience in marketing, fundraising, and journalism.

She is keen to use this experience to make a positive impact in her role by implementing an extensive fundraising programme as well as positively promoting the NCWNZ brand.
