  • Read the report from the Australian Institute on Corporate Paedophilia to learn more about the sexualisation of childhood.

The National Council of Women of New Zealand, and many other like-minded organisations, launched a boycott campaign called Cotton Off Our Kids to show that a range of t-shirts carrying provocative statements may be funny to adults but are completely inappropriate when associated with babies and children.

A month later, Cotton On was forced to withdraw the offensive items and publicly apologise for the widespread offensive it had caused.

However, the campaign against the sexualisation of childhood continues, in an effort to remind retailers of the power that consumers hold and inform consumers of other retailers/products that prematurely sexualisation children.

ICW Resolution Passed - October 2009

The National Council of Women of New Zealand is pleased to announce that the International Council of Women (ICW) has voted unanimously in support of the resolution on stopping the sexualisation of childhood through production, marketing and retailing of children's products.
